KINGSWOOD VILLAGE ASSOCIATION

An Association For Kingswood Village Nr Wotton Under Edge

Kingswood Village Association organises a variety of events in the village. Any profits raised from these events are used for the benefit of the community.

The Kingswood Village Association is a voluntary not for profit organisation that exists to make money for donating back into the village. By doing this we aim to provide high quality events over the year. The KVA is run by a small committee of volunteers. No position is paid, and all money made from village events is donated back into the community.

Regular scheduled events throughtout each year are Open Gardens; Showday; Christmas Wine Festival and the NYE Senior Citizens lunch. For dates of the years events please click on the Calendar link above. For more detail on the events click on the Events link on the left or on the relative storybook below.

The KVA are always looking for willing volunteers to help either as a full member of the committee or as a friend of the KVA. If you are interested please email chair@thekva.co.uk.

Seniors New Years Eve Lunch 31 December 24

OUR HISTORY

Since the 1950s Kingswood Village Association (KVA) has put on events in and for the village. Later, in partnership with the Kingswood New Village Hall project, Showday became a major feature. To this in 1978 was added the Classic Car Show. From the 80s onward, with the Village Hall completed, KVA continues to run Showday on its own.

Other events the KVA hold in the village include Come Dine With Me, Grand Treasure Hunt, Open Gardens and Wine Festivals. Plus the increasingly popular Senior Citizens Lunch provided free of charge in the Village Hall every year on New Years Eve. The purpose has always been constant, which is to put on fun events and use the profits for donations to other Kingswood organisations. Unlike most organisations, KVA has no need of funds for itself. Thus, its entire surplus can be donated.

GRAND TREASURE HUNT Starting from the Village Hall. Free to enter. Bacon rolls/Hot Dogs can be purchased. Includes an adult/family route and a childrens route.

Come Dine With Me Sign up to a night of dining where one of you provides a starter in their home and then you split up and go to another house where a main course is provided. Take your own tipple, make new friends, have many laughs and end up back at the Village Inn for cheese and results of the evenings raffle.

Open Gardens Every other year we host the open gardens of some of the richest, most diverse and beautiful gardens in this part of the United Kingdom. Get a map and stroll around our gardens, talking with their owners and maybe taking away ideas for your own garden. This event has also hosted local artists work. At the end of your tour you complete the day by enjoying a bbq at Tubbs Turf.

Showday The jewel in the crown of each years events has to be Kingswood Showday held on the first Saturday of September each year. This event has grown over the years to be one of the major show events in this part of Gloucestershire. Enjoy entertainment, buy from our stallholders, listen to live music, show your produce or handicraft work, inspect classic cars, watch the dog show, watch punch and judy or relax with a drink from the bar or tea and cake from the WI.

Wine Festival Buy a ticket for each Autumns Wine Festival and get to enjoy a glass of four wines of your choice from a vast selection of whites, reds and roses. During the evening canapes are served. A great way to get to know wines. A great way to renew old friends. A wonderful way to enter the Christmas season.

Seniors New Years Eve Lunch Another jewel in the crown event, but this time everything is provided free of charge for the seniors of this village. Up to 100 people come together in the village hall for a three course roast turkey lunch accompanied by a welcome drink, wine during the meal and port with cheese. All with live music and a rousing chorus of Auld Lang Syne.
